About the Presentation
This presentation will highlight "The BIG Year" competition between Tim O'Brien and Carl Barrentine (a.k.a. Birdman v. Mothman). The theme concerns this line from Antoine de Saint-Exupery's classic, The Little Prince: "What is essential is invisible to the eye". In this presentation Carl will relate highlights from his first full season of mothing (2018), finding and photographing nearly 500 species of moths in his backyard in Spokane, Washington.
About the Speaker
Recently retired from two college teaching careers, Carl spent seven sleepless summers (2012-2017) finding and photographing ‘hinterland’ moths in Minnesota and North Dakota. After a 40-ear hiatus, Carl returned to Washington, settling in Spokane. Rooted firmly in eastern Washington now, Carl begins the tireless work of finding and photographing the moths of Washington.
